Bollywood stars arrive in Toronto

Indian stars are starting to fly in the highly anticipated massively for 'Bollywood Oscars ".

Anil Kapoor, the star of the Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire, arrived Tuesday in search of valiantly in a black jacket, blue jeans and dark shades. Mr. Kapoor was last in Toronto in January to this weekend Indian International Film Academy Awards, in a North American city to host the first time in their 12-year history to promote.

"This is a show that has spread much happiness, color and fun," he said Tuesday. "I'm very excited."

Also arriving was Bollywood action star and comedian Bobby Deol, on Saturday the ceremony, performing with his father, veteran actor Dharmendra and brother and fellow actor Sunny Deol.

"I'm more excited this time [for iIFA] because I am running - in fact I am more nervous," he said.

The celebrities signed autographs, posed for the cameras on the green carpet and waved to about 100 screaming fans. Milki Bushra, 21, of Brampton, Ont., Screaming loudly for Mr. Deol and was rewarded when the star allowed her to touch his face with both her hands.

"Oh my god, it was fantastic - I love you Bobby," she shouted to the star, which was carried away by his security. "It's the first time that iIFA come to Toronto, and who knows when they come back. I intend to be here every day and see the stars."

Ms. Milki is also one of the lucky fans who scored a ticket to Bollywood awards ceremony on 25 June. Approximately 16,000 tickets were sold for about five minutes.

Other actors Anupam Kher of Bend It Like Beckham fame, Arshad Warsi, Dia Mirza and Zayed Khan came earlier Tuesday. Several A-list Bollywood celebrities are expected to regularly fly to Pearson in the next two days.
